Property Description
21Alpha’s Graphite Prospect is located in the Boisdale Hills near Frenchvale, approximately 25 km west of Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The property represents the northern extension of known graphite occurrences that have been documented in the area.
Graphitic marbles and schists on the eastern flank of the Boisdale Hills were first mapped during a regional exploration program in 2004. Samples collected from these ridges and outcrops demonstrated that the graphite occurs in flake form, an uncommon setting when hosted in marble. This geological environment is particularly attractive because flake graphite in marble is easier to process without damaging the flakes. Initial surface sampling reported average grades above 4% graphite.
Follow-up metallurgical work has since shown that the graphite can be readily liberated from the host rock by flotation, producing material with purity levels exceeding 99% after refining. Bench-scale tests from a bulk sample returned grades as high as 99.3% purity, and historic drilling indicated intervals averaging more than 6% graphite over widths of about 20 metres. The broader deposit is extensive, with graphitic marble estimated to total several billion tonnes, and higher-grade zones (4–6% graphite) observed along a 9 km strike length.
A 2007 provincial graphite market study recognized the Boisdale Hills as an area with potential to supply global demand at scale, projecting production scenarios of up to 200,000 tonnes per year of high-purity flake graphite over multi-decade mine life.
More recently, an airborne geophysics program completed in 2017 outlined additional graphite targets across the Boisdale Hills, including anomalies on the ground now held by 21Alpha. Further to the airborne geophysics, in 2025, 21Alpha, with the support of the Nova Scotia Mineral Resources Development Fund (MRDF), completed an IP survey which further defined a high-priority drill target that is now ready for drilling. These targets remain easily accessible, offering a cost-effective opportunity for testing.
With this progress, 21Alpha is advancing the Frenchvale Graphite Prospect toward its first drill program. As a grassroots project, it presents an early-stage exploration opportunity with strong potential for future development in the critical minerals sector.
In addition to its graphite potential, the Frenchvale property hosts several provincially documented mineral occurrences that remain underexplored. These include the Rifle Range Quarry (Cu, Sn, Fe, Bi, W, Co, Au), Krumrine Quarry (Cu, Fe, Ni), Frenchvale Quarry (Au, Co, Cu, Fe, W), and Gouthro Road (Cu, Fe). The possibility that current geophysical targets may be linked to these occurrences adds both geological interest and potential value to the project.
